Australian signing Jy Hitchcox could make his first appearance for Featherstone Rovers in Sunday’s pre-season match against York City Knights at Pontefract Rugby Union Club (2pm kick-off).

The 25-year-old three-quarter, signed from NRL side West Tigers on a two-year contract, is set to arrive at Featherstone before this weekend.

“Jy has got his visa approved and everything else is approved,” said Rovers head coach Andy Hay.

“We have provisionally booked a flight for him for Thursday or Friday so we hope he will definitely be in the country by the weekend.

“If we get him here and he’s not too jet lagged and he’s fit to play we can probably throw him in on Sunday and give him a run out to see how he goes.”
