Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell has named his 19-man squad to take on Catalans Dragons at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Sunday.

Powell makes two changes to his squad who claimed a win over Huddersfield Giants on Sunday afternoon. Greg Eden and Junior Moors are sidelined through injury, Eden with a hamstring tear and Moors with a head knock concussion. James Clare and Matt Cook step back into the 19-man squad.

Speaking about Sunday’s opponents Powell said: “Last week the Dragons showed for a large part of the game against Wigan that they have a team that can trouble the best defences in Super League.

“They have a huge and very physical forward pack that we will need to deal with first and foremost and they started to play very quick with a number of offloads last week. We know they’ll be a real challenge on Sunday.”

Tickets are available to buy from the Tigers Den club shop in Carlton Lanes, from the Castleford Tigers Super Store in Xscape and via the Tigers online box office. This match will have a family theme with fundraising activity, stalls and a bouncy castle, all taking place out on the training pitch side of the stadium from 12:30 until 2:30, raising vital funds for the Prince of Wales Hospice.

Castleford outside backs Jy Hitchcox and Kieran Gill, meanwhile, have begun month loans in Betfred League One.

Hitchcox has signed an initial one month loan with Bradford Bulls, with an option to extend.

Cas boss Powell explained: “Jy needs some game time after a recent injury and Bradford is an ideal chance for him to play at the moment. We will obviously monitor his progress during this time.

“Whilst Jy is on loan we have both Garry Lo and Tuoyo Egodo pushing for a place in our starting team and look forward to Jy putting pressure on to return and press for a place in the team.”

Kieran Gill has also begun a month long loan with Oldham Roughyeds.

Gill suffered a serious knee injury while scoring a try in his Super League debut with the Tigers last June. A full knee construction followed, and the winger has spent the last 10 months recovering. Now fully fit Kieran is ready for some vital game time.

Powell said: “Kieran has had the toughest of injuries and he has worked hard to get himself in great shape. He has an opportunity now to play consistently at Oldham and I’m looking forward to seeing him back on the field and catching my eye.”
