Castleford Tigers’ dual contracted player Ben Reynolds has continued his impressive spell with York City Knights by winning a top weekly award.

Reynolds is the Championship One Kingstone Press Player of the Week after a man of the match display at stand-off against South Wales Scorpions.

He has played most of the season at full-back, but the switch to stand-off proved a big hit in the Knights’ 48-10 victory.

York coach Gary Thornton said: “Ben is equally at home at either full-back or stand-off, but to come in at number six and do what he did against South Wales shows his versatility and that he is up to the challenge.

“He was instrumental in everything we did, kicked a few goals, and he’s part of our squad as far as I’m concerned. He’s a very big part of what we hope to achieve this year.”

Workington Town second row Brett Phillips is the Kingstone Press Championship Player of the Week after being a stand-out member of an impressive pack in his side’s 20-18 win over second-placed Featherstone Rovers.

Scotland international Phillips played the whole game, with Town reduced to 16 players from the start due to injuries.

Workington coach Phil Veivers said: “Brett was outstanding and he has been for a number of weeks.

“He takes some stopping, makes plenty of metres, and helped create a try in the first set of the game for us.

“He played the full 80 minutes in testing conditions with the heat, and I can’t take anything away from the whole pack – to only have three substitutes, they manned up extremely well.”

Workington also won the Kingstone Press Performance of the Week.
