Castleford Tigers boss Daryl Powell wants his team to use the first of the pre-season games to put a marker down for the 2017 campaign.

The Tigers kick-off against Challenge Cup winners Hull FC at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle in their opening pre-season test on Boxing Day and will play three more warm-up matches against Wakefield, Batley and St Helens in January before the start of the Betfred Super League season at home to Leigh Centurions on February 10.

“There will be just the four pre-season games, that will be enough,” said Powell.

“We’ve obviously got one at Christmas and we will have a focus about us for that.

“It will be a tough one as it always is at that time of year, but I really want us to put a marker down for the way that we are going to go about our work.

“Every time you take the field it’s important. People are coming to watch, everybody will be excited to come and see this team take the field and we want to make sure that it looks like it’s an important game for us.”

Tickets for the Hull game are available now, priced £15 adults and £10 concessions in advance, from the club website or the Tigers Den, in Carlton Lanes.
