Featherstone Rovers have been given a boost with news that DS Smith Packaging are continuing their commercial partnership with the club for the 2014 season.
The company will again feature on the first-team playing shirt next year.
DS Smith Packaging (Featherstone) employs more than 200 people in the town, with many Rovers supporters working at their site.
The DS Smith Packaging logo made its debut on the playing shorts of the Rovers kit for the memorable Carnegie Challenge Cup fourth round victory against Castleford Tigers at Big Fellas Stadium last year.
The 2014 agreement sees DS Smith Packaging feature in the same prominent position on the Rovers shirt as well as providing benefits for firm’s employees.
Rovers commercial manager Paul Taylor said: “We are delighted that we have reached agreement with DS Smith Packaging to continue our commercial partnership.
“Jeremy Anderson, MD of the DS Smith Packaging site, and his team have taken a great interest in the club since first becoming involved with Featherstone Rovers last year and have supported the club in a number of ways such as sponsorship of away travel to London Broncos and subsidising the cost of replica shirts for their employees.
“As part of the agreement DS Smith Packaging employees have benefited greatly from the partnership and I am pleased this will continue in 2014 which is an important year for the club.”
DS Smith’s Jeremy Anderson said: “We recognise the importance of our role as a significant employer within the area and take our responsibilities very seriously, which is why we are delighted to continue our relationship with Featherstone Rovers.
“ We understand that 2014 is an important year for Featherstone Rovers and it is great to see the stadium re-developments also taking shape.”
Rovers chief executive Craig Poskitt said: “This is great news for Featherstone Rovers, DS Smith Packaging and the town of Featherstone as a whole that partnership is to continue next year.
“I would like to thank Jeremy and his colleagues for their commitment to the club and I look forward to developing the partnership further.”
