Blues target Park Avenue win to end ‘frustrating’ run of form

FRICKLEY Athletic will eye an upturn in form on Saturday when they welcome Bradford Park Avenue to the Tech5 Stadium (kick-off 3pm).

The Blues enjoyed a purple patch of good form in November with just one defeat from seven games in all competitions before going without a win in their last three games - all against sides below them in the Evo-Stik Premier Division table.

The set-back has disappointed manager Peter Rinkcavage, who last week told the Express that he was confident his side would start turning chances into goals.

“It’s disappointing that we’ve got just one point from our last three games,” he said.

Park Avenue will prove a tough nut to crack as they look for three points to cement their place in the Premier Division play-off spots and keep pace with the leading pack.

The Blues boss may be tempted to shuffle his pack in light of recent results, but Mark Gray and Lincoln Adams are both out through suspension.

Kelvin Bleau is expected to return from injury and Alex Callery also has a chance, although the Blues boss won’t be rushing him back. Striker Peter Knox could also return to action.

Full-back Ben Turner could play his first game for the Blues as a permanent addition to the South Elmsall club’s squad.

The left-back has impressed Rinkcavage during a one-month loan spell at the Tech5 Stadium from Premier Division rivals Worksop Town and the Blues have acted quickly to make Turner a permanent addition.

Rinkcavage said: “I am delighted we have managed to sign a player of Ben’s calibre. I haven’t seen a better young left back in the division this season.”

He continued: “He just wants to play football and he has taken a substantial cut in wages to sign here and that speaks volumes about his character.

“He has made an instant impact here with his performances on the pitch and the way he handles himself off it and we are delighted to have him
