FRICKLEY Athletic proved that they’re up for winning their relegation battle by picking up a deserved share of the spoils in a four-goal thriller against promotion-chasing Buxton.
The Blues came from a goal down to take a point at the Tech5 Stadium and could have snatched all three before the visitors levelled late on.
The hosts gave a debut to new signing Paul Lister, who joined on a month’s loan from Alfreton Town, in the heart of their defence, while former Blue Kevin Sanasy started for Buxton in attack.
The Bucks came flying out of the traps and were rewarded for their early pressure when Neil Stevens fired them ahead in the 16th minute.
Chances came at both ends and the Blues showed signs of improvement as the match wore on.
The leveller came just after the hour mark through Ashley Burbeary before Ashley Longstaff turned the game on its head by firing Frickley ahead four minutes later.
Peter Rinkcavage’s men couldn’t hold on for maximum points though and Mark Reed equalised for Buxton with ten minutes to go.
