FRICKLEY Athletic boss Peter Rinkcavage has lavished praise on James Ashmore.

Ashmore netted two goals in the Blues’ impressive 2-2 draw at FC United of Manchester last weekend. His first came from the penalty spot but his second was a superb 35-yard free-kick.

He’s been arguably Frickley’s star man this season and Rinkcavage agrees.

“James got a bit of criticism when he first came here from the supporters, but I didn’t listen to it and James didn’t listen to it,” he said.

“He’s a great player. He’s one of the best passers of the ball in the league in my opinion and he’s our top-scorer.”

The Blues boss called Ashmore’s free-kick against United as “one of the best goals” he’s seen.

And when asked if there’s been any interest in the player from other clubs, the Blues boss responded: “There’s been bits and bobs.”

Ashmore is set to start for Frickley today when host Hednesford Town at the Tech5 Stadium, kick-off 3pm.
