FRICKLEY Athletic boss Karl Rose is hoping Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Chorley can sprinkle some ‘cup magic’ on his out-of-form troops.

The Blues have struggled out of the blocks this season, winning just twice in all competitions, including victory over Worksop in the last round.

The Second Qualifying Round draw pits them with a tough trip to Evo-Stik Premier Division rivals Chorley this weekend and Rose says his side can go out and enjoy playing in the competition.

“We can go there and forget about the league for one game,” he said.

“On our day I’m confident that we can beat anybody.

“I think Chorley will be up and around the play-offs but our focus is on going there, enjoying it, and trying to get the win.”

He added: “It’s a big game for the club as well.

The club is obviously going for this ground redevelopment and they need all the money they can get, so if the players can help out by winning this weekend that’s great.

Prize money of £4,500 is on offer in Saturday’s cup game.

The Blues will be without Glyn Cotton, who’s moved to Matlock Town.
