In-form Castleford Tigers winger Denny Solomona is gearing up for a big weekend for the club’s hopes of a top four finish in the Super League.
Although the Tigers suffered a setback with their narrow defeat at Hull FC, they can still pip Huddersfield Giants for fourth spot if they can win their last two regular season games.
Cas are at Wakefield this Sunday while Huddersfield face a tough-looking trip to play Catalans Dragons on Saturday with the French team desperate for points to ensure they finish in the top eight. With the Tigers and Giants still level on points it looks like being nip and tuck right to the end of the first part of the season.
“This weekend is massive for our top-four chances,” said Solomona.
“After the weekend we have to pick it up a notch. We have got to work hard in training and then rip into Wakefield.
“The first half (at Hull) wasn’t too bad, though we have started better.
“In the second half it just came down to attitude, who wanted it more and was hungry enough to go and get it.
“That is definitely a big worry for us. We can’t have anyone feeling comfortable with where we are at the moment and hopefully we can keep pushing on.”
Solomona maintained his impressive try scoring run since coming back from injury with two more against Hull, taking his tally to 13 touchdowns in six matches.
But he puts the credit for his scoring prowess down to his team-mates, who are providing the opportunities for him.
He said: “That’s credit to the rest of the boys, like Jake Webster and Mike McMeeken.
“They do all the hard yards and I just finish it off.”
