A most pleasant and enjoyable evening is how the 50+ diners attending the Magna Carta Dinner held in the Kings Croft Hotel described their evening.

The reception was excellent with wine and canapés to start and a delightful meal followed, provided by and served most courteously by the staff at the hotel.

Mr David Pearson, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, addressed the diners on the subject of how The West Yorkshire Lieutenancy is based and provides a service to the county, expressing the experiences he has witnessed over time and how the office of the Lord Lieutenancy was introduced.

The work and involvement of the Magna Carta Society on behalf of Pontefract was reported upon by myself, the society’s president.

Thanks to all involved, including the P&C, was expressed for making the evening most enjoyable.
