LETTER: Children will swim in dangerous places if Wakefield Council closes pools

Since the council feel they must close local swimming pools they must know the likely consequences of such a move.

That is that local youths and children will find new places to swim.

And very probably highly dangerous new places. Without life-guards or resus kits.

Anyone turning up at the former quarry near Womersley is likely to find themselves in a ‘shaggy dog story!’

As their watchdog, a large friendly Newfoundland, grabs an arm and ‘helps’ them to the bank; ‘assisted’ by his little friend (a Jack Russell).

In most likely places there will be no help.

Just how many drowned young people is an ‘acceptable number?’
