Big-hearted Marks and Spencer staff held a sponsored walk at Hemsworth Water Park to raise cash for the Prince of Wales Hospice.

Julie Gibson, who works at Marks and Spencer’s (M&S) Castleford store, organised the trek to raise money for the Pontefract hospice.

The walk was also held in memory of Arnie Price who was cared for at the hospice before his death from cancer in July. His widow Marie also works for M&S.

Mrs Gibson said: “M&S staff took part with their children, nieces and nephews and some of my neighbours and their children joined in.

“There were 30 of us altogether. It was absolutely fabulous and everyone really enjoyed it.”

The group has managed to raise more than £750 with more money still to be collected.

Mrs Gibson added: “I’m extremely pleased with how much we have raised so far and there’s still more to be collected.

“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the people who have donated but it’s for such a good cause.

“I would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and to Hemsworth Water Park for their hospitality.”
