A TEENAGE driver from South Elmsall and his passenger were seriously injured after their car smashed into a tree.
The 19-year-old driver and his 15-year old passenger, from Askern, had to be cut from the silver Suzuki Swift hatchback after it lost control negotiating a bend and careered across grass and hit a tree and then a lamppost.
The incident took place around 1am on Friday, October 28, on Doncaster Road, Owston, about 600 yards north of the B1220 Askern Road.
The driver was detained in Doncaster Royal Infirmary with serious head, neck and chest injuries.
His passenger was also detained with serious shoulder injuries and a fractured hip.
The car was severely damaged firefighters spent 55 minutes removing them from the vehicle.
They had to cut the roof off the car, which was wedged between the tree and post.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision and a police spokesman confirmed there had been no arrests.
