KNOCKOUT singing sensation Chelsea Radford hit the high notes for legendary boxer Mike Tyson when she accompanied him on tour.

Miss Radford, 17, of Westfield Road, Hemsworth, performed at the heavyweight champion’s five-day tour of Scotland.

The former Hemsworth Arts and Community College said it was amazing to meet him.

She said: “I felt so honoured and privileged to sing for him. He was so lovely and sweet.”

An Audience with Mike Tyson gave fans the opportunity to hear him speak about his life, and also had other boxing superstars in attendance, including Ian McLeod, Scott Welch and Tim Witherspoon.

Miss Radford added: “I was really nervous about singing in front of all of these famous people, but as soon as I started they all cheered me on which felt great.

“Mike Tyson actually stood up for me and started dancing, which was unbelievable.

“I can’t explain how amazing that was.

“It was such a fantastic experience and loved every second of it.”

Miss Radford was approached by Mr Tyson’s promoters at a charity evening at Hemsworth’s Alpha Boxing Club – which is run by her brother, David – in October.

They told her they loved her voice and asked her to go on the road with them.

She added: “I just couldn’t believe it. I was over the moon and so excited.”

Miss Radford said her love of singing began when she took part in karaoke while on holiday in Tenerife when she was 12-years-old. Since then she has benefited from singing lessons and has performed at a number of charity events.

She was crowned the Express Voice Of 2008 and also won Barnsley’s Teen Idol in the same year.

She said: “This was the biggest event I have sung at and hope there will be more like this in the future.”

“I just really love singing and hope to make a career out of it - it would be my dream job.

“I think I will try out for X-Factor next year so will just have to see what happens from there.”
