A pair of sisters will be swimming for charity in memory of their grandma.

Rebecca and Georgina Hill – who will be joined by their uncle Robert Hill – aim to swim 5k in two hours to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The trio have organised the swim in memory of Muriel Hill, Robert’s mum and Rebecca and Georgina’s grandma, who died from pancreatic cancer in October 2012, two weeks after being diagnosed.

Marie Curie nurses cared for Mrs Hill during her illness and her family wanted to thank them for their work and raise money to help other families.

Rebecca,24,from Hemsworth, said: “My grandma was a very strong, caring and vital part of our family.

“She was the queen bee and losing her has devastated all of our family. We just want to make her proud.

“We want to spread the word and raise as much money as possible for Marie Curie Cancer Care.”

The trio will each swim 67 lengths of the 25m pool in Royston on Sunday July 6.

Mr Hill, 45, said: “I am more than ready and raring to go to take part in the swim in memory of my mum.”
