A children’s centre that has helped improve parenting skills has been given a glowing report by Ofsted.
Little Owl Children’s Centre in South Kirkby was given the second highest grade in the recent inspection.
The centre, based on Common Road and is attached to the primary school, was visited by the education watchdog in January, and awarded a ‘good’ grade in its overall effectiveness as a children’s centre.
Lead inspector Marian Pearson said in the report: “Children’s early learning and development are supported very effectively.
“Staff provide positive role models in how to engage with children and promote good communication skills.”
The centre offers classes and courses for those with children aged up to five.
Inspectors also stated in the report that parents benefitted from a broad range of courses to enhance their parenting skills and extend their understanding of children’s development.
Ms Pearson said: “The centre’s strong focus on increasing the skills and confidence of parents has successfully extended purposeful learning into the home.”
Centre manager Helen Challenger said she was thrilled with the report
