Runners are being urged to sign up for the third annual Great Kinsley Run.
Last year, a record 150 people took part and raised around £1,700 for the Lymphoma Association. The sponsor money was matched by HR company Towers Watson, taking the grand total to £3,400.
This year’s event will be raising funds for the Lymphoma Association and Candlelighters - and organisers are hoping that it will be even bigger and better than before.
Julie Ritchie, event organiser, said: “We had around 150 people take part last year and that was more than we had for the first event.
“We are hoping that the race will keep on growing and hopefully we will get 200 people, possibly even more, signing up for the 2015 run.”
The event will set off from the Kinsley Hotel, Wakefield Road, on Sunday, June 14. There will be a 5k family fun run at 10am and a 10k event for more serious competitors at 10.30am.
The first five female and five male runners in the 10k will win a one-month free pass for The Club at Burntwood Court.
Miss Ritchie said she was hoping that other local businesses would once again support the event.
She said: “Last year businesses provided food for the barbecue afterwards, offered match funding and helped out with the event marshalling so I’m hoping for something similar again.”
Online entry is open at bookitzone.com/julie_ritchie_1 until June 10. Entry costs £6.20, with £5 being split between the Lymphoma Association and Candlelighters, Yorkshire’s children’s cancer charity.
Runners can also collect sponsorship money and forms are available on the book it website.
Children under 16 can join in the 5k event if they are registered in advance with an adult and pay £1 on the day.
