Dedicated competitors from across the country will
descend on South Elmsall in October in a bid to be crowned Yorkshire’s Strongest Man.
Strongmen will compete against each other in categories during the contest, organised by Hulk’s Strongman Division at Frickley Athletic FC.
The event will include a log lift, dead lift, farmer’s walk/super yoke, truck pull/push, tug of war and atlas stones.
Frickley players will also challenge the strongmen in a tug of war competition.
This year’s event will be refereed by Eddie Hall, who has won the Britain’s Strongest Man title four times..
Some of the big names taking part include Elite England’s Strongest Man,Tom Shaw, Sheffield’s Strongest Man Phil Roberts, and Wales’ Strongest Man, Simon Johnston.
Mark Anglesea, Hulks Strongman Division organiser, said: “We will have typically 15 strongmen competing on the day.
“These are seasoned strongmen that can achieve the minimum lifts for example the starting weight is 280kg.
“We make spectators very welcome and contribute to events being family orientated, plus the athletes love the encouragement and support.”
The event will take place at Frickley Athletic’s ground at Westfield Lane in South Elmsall on Sunday, October 19. The gates open at 11am and the competition starts at noon.
