Dancing duo Frank and Cynthia Marsden will rub shoulders with royalty at one of the Queen’s garden parties later this year.
The couple, of Lowfield Road, in Hemsworth, host dances to raise money for various charities and causes while teaching people modern sequence routines.
They have also run a weekly dance class in the town for 38 years.
Mr Marsden, 67, said: “It was a fantastic feeling to get the invitation. We are over the moon with it.
“We have an idea who might have nominated us but it’s just great news. We’re both really chuffed with it.”
The couple, who will attend the garden party at Buckingham Palace in May, joined the dance class around 40 years ago but when the class leader emigrated to Australia they decided to run it themselves.
The class is held at Hemsworth West End Working Men’s Club, Barnsley Road, every Wednesday from 7.30pm.
It now has around 80 to 90 members ranging in age from 40 to 90 and also runs every fortnight at the YMCA Club, on Grove Lane.
Mr Marsden added: “We do it because we love dancing. For me the best thing is teaching people the routines and seeing the smiles on their faces.”
The couple also arrange trips for the group’s members and have raised thousands of pounds for Hemsworth and District YMCA Club.
Mrs Marsden, 66, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to whoever nominated us to attend the garden party. We’re delighted ”
