A RECORD-breaking £26,746.50 has been raised for the Prince of Wales Hospice’s Light Up A Life Appeal.
A total of 1,156 dedications in memory of loved ones were made and recorded in the Pontefract hospice’s Books of Remembrance, with local dedications printed in the Express.
Tom Belt, hospice fundraiser, said: “It has been an amazing year for the Light up a Life appeal. The donations received with each dedication give the hospice the vital funds needed to continue to provide our patients with the best possible care we can.”
The total funds raised by this year’s appeal will exceed £30,000 after more than £4,000 is added in Gift Aid - extra funds which are claimed from the government on donations by people who pay tax.
Mr Belt said: “This year’s appeal has been a huge success. We would like to also thank the Hemsworth and South Elmsall Express who have really helped us to spread the word to our local community.”
A special Book of Remembrance will be printed in January will include all dedications.
