A PUB quiz team will put their knowledge to the test as they take on the mighty Eggheads on national television.
The BBC 2 quiz show sees members of the public pitted against a group of ‘Eggheads’ - a bunch of super-clever boffins.
David Hawcroft, 68, of Station Road, Hemsworth, was one fifth of The Window Box, a team who frequently test their knowledge at the Boot and Shoe in Ackworth. They filmed the show in October, and it will be on screen on May 22.
The team - Paul Gregory, Tony Senior, Jeff Bedford, and Mr Bedford’s wife, Margaret, who was the reserve, - had won many quiz nights at the pub so decided to go one step further and try their combined knowledge against the cleverest team on television.
Mr Hawcroft chose to answer questions on history and was put up against Judith Keppel – the first British winner of £1,000,000 on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
But he did not give anything away to the Express about how he did and said people will just have to watch the show to find out.
Mr Hawcroft said “It was a fantastic experience and everyone made us feel very welcome.
“We were all very calm and relaxed but people will have to watch the show to see how we did.”
