Presleys descend on Wakefield for Elvis Tribute Act Championships

It was a case of heartbreak at the hotel for all but one Elvis impersonator last weekend.

A total of 40 contestants from all over Europe descended on the city for The British Elvis Tribute Act Championships at the Cedar Court Hotel.

The three-day competition, held in the 40th anniversary year since the music-legend’s death, saw the performers take to the stage in a battle to be crowned the King of Britain.

Twenty-year-old Tommy Holland from Bolton took the top prize.

Organiser Mike Chambers said: “There were some great jumpsuit costumes. The event and the talent was absolutely fantastic.”
