Pontefract Museum has reopened after a refurbishment.
The work - which has seen new gallery lighting installed and a reorganisation of exhibitions - has been funded by Wakefield Council and the Arts Council England.
It reopened to the public on Monday.
Coun Les Shaw, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: “This work will help to improve Pontefract Museum so that more people can enjoy all the events and exhibitions we have on offer.
“It is great we have received support from the Arts Council England to make this project possible.”
New exhibitions including ‘The British Civil Wars’ as well as displays on liquorice and Georgian cookery will also start on May 2.
