Pontefract rallycross driver Craig Lomax is set to make his European debut when he heads for Portugal this week.
The current British Super 1600 champion is taking part in the European Rallycross Championships in Montalegre, Portugal where he will be competing against 32 other Super 1600 drivers from around the continent.
For Lomax it will be his first EuroRX venture and he is in a buoyant mood while still being realistic about what he can achieve.
He said: “Of course I’m a little nervous because it’s a totally new ball game for us, we’re moving up a level and competing against the best drivers in the world.
“If the car goes as well as it did at Lydden we should be all good and all being well mixing it with some of the big names. It would be absolutely perfect if we can score some points from the round and not be last on the table.”
The team’s Citroen C2 has undergone extensive enhancements which should see them on a competitive footing.
Further rounds in the European Super 1600 Championship take place in Great Britain (May 28-29); Sweden (July 2-3); France (September 3-4); Spain (September 17-18) and Germany (October 15-16).
