Wakefield Council says it no longer publishes 'The Citizen' in print, after Lib Dem Tom Gordon called for it to be axed

'The Citizen' was produced every six months and distributed freely to households across the district.
But since last year it has been running exclusively online.
Councillor Tom Gordon has called for the publication to be abandoned, in a move he said would save taxpayers £40,000 a year.

Hide AdThe idea came as part of his proposed amendment to the council's Budget, which will be debated on Wednesday.
But the Labour-run council's deputy leader has said that The Citizen has already been printed for the last time.
Councillor Jack Hemingway said: "Last year, I confirmed that The Citizen newspaper would stop after the March 2020 edition.
"This was included in my budget speech, as part of the debate at full council on February 26, 2020.
