A VISIT to the police cells was a unique day out for children from a South Kirkby nursery.

The 16 youngsters from St Luke’s Nursery, based on Barnsley Road, took a trip to the nearby police station to see what life is like for officers last Monday.

They got the chance to speak to police officers, who showed them the cells.

But instead of giving them the basic food rations - they were treated to fizzy drinks, crisps and biscuits for being so well behaved.

Insp Geoff Carter for the South East neighbourhood policing team, said: “I am really pleased with the way my team are working hard to engage with as many people and groups as they can.

“If we can work with youngsters we will grow closer to the communities we serve and increase confidence in local policing.”
