Police have uncovered a cannabis farm in South Kirkby.

Officers from the South Kirkby neighbourhood police team (NPT) found ten plants after carrying out a raid at a house on Wentworth Drive on Monday night.

A woman was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and had been bailed for forensic enquiries.

Insp Geoff Carter, from the NPT, said: “Most of our raids on cannabis farms are carried out as a result of community intelligence.

“We act on any information given to us about cannabis and other drug matters.”

A man was also ordered to pay back £25,874 at Leeds Crown Court earlier this month after the NPT executed a warrant at a house in South Elmsall in 2013. He was convicted for growing cannabis at an earlier hearing. Some of the money recovered will be invested back into the local community.

Insp Carter said: “We will always look into recovering money through confiscation orders under the Proceeds of Crime Act in relation to the cultivation of cannabis.”

Anyone with any information about drug crime should contact the NPT on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
