The Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, will give a special reading to raise funds for this year’s Wakefield Lit Fest.

She will appear at The Orangery, on Back Lane, on Easter Saturday

She will be taking part in a service at Wakefield Cathedral and present a poem inspired by the building.

The internationally-renowned poet appeared at Wakefield Lit Fest, which is organised by Beam, last year.

Beam Director Robert Powell said: “We are terrifically excited to welcome Carol Ann back to Wakefield.

“She really enjoyed her reading here last autumn and when I found out about her English cathedrals project we facilitated the connection with the Dean and Bishop here.

“When Carol Ann offered to read in support of the Lit Fest as part of her visit to the cathedral, we grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

“It’s a great opportunity, and Wakefield people are in for a wonderful and intimate experience at The Orangery.”

Tickets cost £10 and concessions available for £7.
