Plans for 1.1km cycling circuit
The Bishop Konstant Multi Academy Trust hopes to build the 1.1km closed cycle track on playing fields at St Thomas a Becket Catholic Secondary School in Sandal.
The circuit would be used by cycling and disability groups and for track competitions, including time trials and race events.

A council report said: “The proposal would be the only one of its kind in the Wakefield area and would serve an area between York and Sheffield, where the nearest closed road circuits are located.”
The layout of the track has been designed by British Cycling, who would fund 50 per cent of the project if it was approved.
But Wakefield Council has received 13 letters objecting to the plans.

A letter in support of the plans said the track would provide a very important sporting facility in the area.
The plans have been recommended for refusal due to a lack of information being submitted about parking arrangements.
The application will be discussed by the council’s planning and highways committee on Thursday.
