Wakefield's Ruddy Duck pub undergoing £400k transformation with new name

The six-figure investment at the pub on Bridge Street, will see an overhaul of the interior decor, beer garden and menu.

The pub will reopen under a new name, The Bridge Inn, in just under three weeks after being closed since October 21.

The bar and restaurant – which is owned by Marston’s – will bring a new modern take on the traditional community pub and will be introducing a new menu including all the pub food classics.

A new general manager, Cameron Bibby, has been appointed and a brand new beer garden featuring outdoor screens showcasing live entertainment, weekly events and entertainment will be included in the revamp.

A spokesperson for The Bridge Inn, said: “We're getting a brand new look, new name, a great weekly events and entertainment schedule, and we are really excited to share it with you.

"Although we're changing, we will remain the same friendly local you know and love.

“We can’t wait to update you on what’s happening over the coming weeks at The Bridge Inn, so, keep your eyes peeled for more updates.”

The revamp will bring an additional 15 jobs to the current team.

It follows a number of pubs in the district which have recently received investments.

The Holmfield Arms at Denby Dale Road is due to reopen in the next few weeks after shutting its doors last month for a refurbishment. The Lupset is also set to reopen before Christmas after being shut for over two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
