Lilly has been doing her bit to come up with ways to put smiles on the faces of the residents.

Before Mother's Day, Lilly decided to draw a picture for each resident who wasn’t likely to receive a Mother's Day card, along with a bouquet of flowers.

Lilly raised £200 and bought Easter eggs for residents, along with garden planters, compost, craft items and a rabbit hutch for two rabbits that are being donated to the home.

Lilly's Mum Vicky said: “The care home manager couldn't believe that Lilly wanted to do so much to help out.

“I hope it’s brought a bit of happiness to people who couldn't see their mums or grandparents in nursing homes over Mother's Day.

“She’s loved going to the care home and doing all these nice things, and so have the residents.

“They can only have one visitor in for around 30 minutes at a time, so it’s been nice to see Lilly putting a smile on their faces too.”

Special recognition has been given to the Moortop Farmshop in Hemsworth, boxed toiletry sets from Tiny Baby Hands, an Easter cake from Gail Bakes and toiletries and board games from Asda Wakefield.

Lilly says she’s keen to do more and would like to commit to a similar initiative over Christmas time, with donations of crafts and baking ingredients to keep the residents occupied.

Natalie Benson, Activities Coordinator at Four Seasons Health Care Group said: “Every Lilly comes to visit, she has me in tears.

“She’s an amazing little girl, it must run in the family because Vicky does a lot of work for the community, they’re such caring people.

“Lilly deserves every bit of recognition, she doesn’t do it for the glory - she just loves doing it to make people happy!”
