Children's heartfelt letters and cards raise a smile at Kinsley care home
As part of the ‘Hand in Hand Together’ project which connects older people living in care homes with children, residents wrote a little bit about themselves and added their paint handprints to letters that were sent out to youngsters in the local community.
The home received a lovely parcel containing replies from the children along with their handprints and drawings.

Hide AdActivities Coordinator, Natalie Benson, said: “Our residents have absolutely loved getting the children’s letters which have put big smiles on their faces. They’ve been so impressed with the creativity of such young children.
“This project is such a wonderful way to stay in touch with people while residents can’t get out and about to visit community groups or have nursery children visit our home.”
Resident Wilfred Mattison, who is living with dementia, was very touched by his letter from one-year-old Rebecca, whose mum had written about her pretending to be a dinosaur.
He gave his carers a huge dinosaur roar and couldn’t stop laughing and said, “This letter has absolutely made my day!”
