5. A step back in time
Imagine if the 1980s never finished... That's the theme behind a new bar in Wakefield city centre. The Northgate venue, which opened in September, is an 80s-style video shop in the front and a hidden speakeasy style bar in the back.
6. Taking the plunge

7. A ray of hope
In a year filled with confusion, many people were granted a reason to smile with the arrival of new children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Our special souvenir edition of the paper in June helped celebrate the arrival of more than 100 new little angels.
8. Keeping it bright
In many ways, rainbows have become synonymous with lockdown this year, as millions of families around the world created colourful artwork as a show of hope and joy. In Wakefield, hundreds of families took part in a campaign to cover the district with rainbows.
