Letter - ‘I’d like to know why’

The Express has highlighted the need to support your local newspaper, without it the disgraceful behaviour of the Wakefield Labour Group would have gone unnoticed.

It is little wonder that Upton, South Elmsall, South Kirkby and Hemsworth are the most deprived area in England. Two Hemsworth councillors Glyn Lloyd and Sandra Pickin voted to withhold the £100,000 that should have been passed on to the Hemsworth rate payers, just who do these two represent?

Two Labour councillors have been brought before Labour’s kangaroo court for exposing the great rate robbery. Having robbed £100,000 last year from Hemsworth ratepayers by increasing the precept by 58 per cent, they tried the three card trick this year and withheld another £100,000.

So why do you think councillors Lloyd and Pickin, who were elected to represent Hemsworth, voted to withhold the £100,000?

I am sure it is nothing to do with the fact that voting against the party line would result in leaving the gravy train at the next stop.

I am sure they have a very good reason why they voted to withhold the £100,000 and I would like to read their reasons in the next issue of the Express.
