CHRISTMAS came early for a nursery in South Kirkby as they received an ‘oustanding’ Ofsted inspection.
St Luke’s Nursery, on Barnsley Road, was given a top report by the education watchdog.
Inspector June Rice said in the report that ‘practice is inspirational and provides rich and varied experiences for children of all ages, which ensures they make rapid progress in their learning from their starting points’.
Children were also described as ‘independent, curious, exceptionally well-motivated and eager to join in ‘.
It was found that teaching was based on excellent knowledge and understanding of the areas of learning and practice consistently meant children achieved very high standards. The inspection took place in October.
Standards have been raised at the nursery since its last inspection in 2009 – when it received a ‘good’ judgement.
Manager of the nursery Pam Ward said she was delighted with the report.
She said: “We are over the moon. It was a team effort though and want to thank all of the staff for their hard work and ongoing dedication to the nursery.
“We have been working towards this for a while so I am so proud we have achieved it. We will be working hard to keep it up in future.”
The nursery caters for children up to five years old.
