Ackworth School will get a new headteacher in September when current leader Kathryn Bell leaves.

Anton Maree will take over the helm when Mrs Bell leaves to become the headteacher at Burgess Hill School in Sussex.

Adrian Sharp, chairman of governors, said: “I am very excited at the prospect of Anton’s arrival and I look forward to him leading Ackworth School over the coming years.

“I am sure he will ensure the school continues to thrive as a happy and vibrant community where all are encouraged to succeed.”

Mr Maree is currently deputy headteacher at Rossall School in Lancashire.

He said: “I am privileged to be offered this opportunity to continue developing Ackworth and taking the school forward.”
