Musician Bill Nelson to receive Wakefield Star
The 65-year-old, born in Westgate End, will be presented with the Hollywood-style star during a ceremony at Unity Hall.
The influential musician is best known for being the frontman of band Be-Bop Deluxe in the 1970s.

Wakefield Council leader Coun Peter Box said: “I am thrilled to present the next Wakefield Star to our very own homegrown entertainer Bill Nelson.
“He is a brilliant ambassador for the district and I look forward to celebrating his many achievements.”
The Wakefield Star scheme – originally launched in 2010 – recognises the achievements of individuals in sport, culture, science and engineering and celebrates those who have supported their local community.

Hide AdMr Nelson’s star will be placed in the district’s walk of fame alongside other famous local people.
They include sculptor Barbara Hepworth, writer Stan Barstow, rugby league legend Neil Fox and rock band The Cribs.
