The end of the year-long 1984-5 miners’ strike will be remembered with a festival at Wakefield’s Unity Hall.

There will be film screenings, debates, music, photography and speakers at the With Banners Held High event on Saturday, March 7.

It will be held 30 years since miners returned to work at the end of the dispute.

Guest speakers will include veteran Labour MP Dennis Skinner and the writer and broadcaster Ian Clayton.

A daytime event from 10.30am will be followed by an evening of music and poetry from 7.30pm.
