A man who was murdered in his own home died from multiple stab wounds, an inquest heard.
Nicholas Dean Williams, 27, was found at his home on Bottom Boat Road, Stanley, on Thursday, December 17.
A post mortem examination found he died from multiple stab wounds after being assaulted.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Elizabeth Belton told the hearing Mr Williams’ girlfriend, Elizabeth Carrigan, left his home for work on Wednesday, December 16.
Miss Carrigan worked as a carer and she had been texting Mr Williams during the day.
Det Ch Insp Belton said: “In the early evening she became concerned because of the loss of contact.
“The following morning she returned to the home address and in the front room found his body deceased.”
Det Ch Insp Belton said a murder investigation had been launched and the investigation is ongoing.
Aaron Swift, 33, of Trafford Apartments, Rotherham, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Mr Williams.
And he is expected to appear again at Leeds Crown Court later this month..
Mr Williams was born in Pontefract and he worked as a welder.
Coroner David Hinchliff adjourned the hearing pending the outcome of further investigations.
