Letter - Search for hero families

I AM searching for Winifred (Shaw) and John W Young and their family.

Winifred (Wyn) Shaw born 1917 Prestwich and who married John W Young at Hemsworth in 1941.

They lived in Falkirk Scotland in the 1940s and had three children, the last child a boy was born in 1950.

In 1947 they went to Markelo Holland on a yatch to visit her brother Kenneth Fazackerley Shaw’s Grave.

They may still have family living in Scotland or in England , and John W Young may still have relatives in Hemsworth and Yorkshire.

Winifred also had a brother Graham Shaw who lived in Prestwich and Manchester.

Kenneth Fazackerley Shaw was born in 1921 at Prestwich and died In the Stirling bomber in Markelo on June 23, 1943 just 22 years old.

On June 23rd 1943 a Stirling Bomber # EF399 AA-0 from RNZAF 75 Squadron Left Newmarket base and dropped bombs on Mulhiem Germany.

The bomber was shot down and crashed in a field near Markelo Holland killing all on board 4 New Zealanders, 1 Scot and 2 British.

A 70th memorial in 2013 for this crew and two other RAF crews who crashed in this town of Markelo will be remembering the 21 men who died.

Markelo are planning the event to show there gratitude and respect for what the boys did for them in WWII.

Kenneth Fazackerley Shaw is one of these men.

Anyone who knows anything of this family please get in touch with Darryl Robertson in New Zealand who is leading the search for for the Dutch People. 17 of the 21 crewmen’s families have been found and they have great interest in this memorial.
