IT WAS a bittersweet evening for Havercroft J&I pupils as they said their goodbyes to their school last week.
The year six pupils were treated like celebrities as they rode around in a Hummer before being dropped off at a school leavers’ prom on Tuesday.
Fairy lights, extravagant seat covers and balloons had transformed the school hall to make it an extra special occasion.
Cathryn Breedon, school administrative officer, said: “Everyone looked lovely and was a great way to end their time at school.
“They all thoroughly enjoyed it, although there were a few tears as they were sad to be leaving.”
Most of the pupils will start at Hemsworth Arts and Community in September.
Mrs Breedon thanked Albions Pizzas in Barnsley for donating free food to the party.
The school’s other pupils also celebrated the end of the school year with a disco.
They took to the dancefloor last Thursday and had a great time singing along to their favourite songs.
And there were hotdogs, sweets and ice lollies for them to enjoy.
Mrs Breedon said: “All the children were really hyper as it was their last week and just had a really good time.”
