Miners at Kellingley Colliery will march through the streets of Knottingley today, a day after they finished their final shift.
The farewell procession will leave Knottingley Town Hall at around 12.30pm and pass through to Kellingley Miners’ Welfare Club, on Marine Villa Road.
Up to 2,000 people are expected to turn out.
Keith Poulson, branch manager for the National Union of Mineworkers, said: “We will march through the town as a sign of unity and strength. It is a celebration of the working lives we have shared together.”
