WORRIED motorists have been panic buying unleaded petrol, leading to a shortage in Hemsworth.
The Tesco filling station, on Market Street, has sold out of regular unleaded petrol and only has premium brand Momentum unleaded and diesel left on sale.
The station sold out of unleaded after drivers started filling up due to fears that fuel tanker drivers are set to go on strike over pay and conditions.
But no strike date has yet been set and at least one week notice must be given before it goes ahead.
A delivery of unleaded petrol is expected at Tesco tonight (Thursday).
One staff worker at the Tesco supermarket said: “We have been really busy - everyone is panic buying.”
