THE FESTIVE season is almost upon us and the Hemsworth and South Elmsall Express needs your help.

We have launched our annual Christmas Toy Appeal to help give every child a special gift to open on Christmas morning.

Not every parent can afford expensive presents for their youngsters, which is we are appealing to our generous readers to help to make sure underprivileged children can enjoy the festive period.

Appeal co-ordinator Gemma Jimmison said: “The last year has been a tough one financially for many people, with huge budget cuts and many job losses. But that doesn’t mean children have to suffer at Christmas time. With your help we can make sure every youngster has something to open.

“It doesn’t matter how big or small the toy is, or how much it cost, every donation will be very much appreciated. We are always amazed at how generous our readers are and I’m sure they won’t let us down this year.”

We are asking people to donate a new, unwrapped toy for children aged between 0-17.

Gifts for teenagers are especially important, as they tend to be forgotten about more than the younger children. The toys will be donated to children who might not otherwise receive a present.

Toys should be dropped off at our South Elmsall office, Barnsley Road, before noon on Friday, December 9. The office is open between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

Together we can make sure every child has a smile on their face this Christmas.
