Frickley Athletic are looking to make home advantage count when they kick-off their 2016-17 Evo-Stik Premier League season on Saturday.
The Blues take on Ashton United at their Westfield Lane ground (kick-off 3pm)as they begin a campaign they hope can be as successful as last term when they finished in seventh place.
A second league game quickly follows as they travel to take on Workington next Tuesday (7.45pm).
Pre-season preparations are complete with results mixed as they followed four unbeaten games with three defeats.
The latest loss came away to Goole AFC last Saturday when the Blues were beaten 2-1. Nathan Curtis scored their only goal after the hosts had been ahead from the fourth minute and doubled their advantage.
It was still a useful workout with manager Karl Rose making four substitutions to give many of his squad men a run out ahead of the season proper.
Frickley: Malkowski, Parkinson, Grant (Burton), Hinsley, Ible, Pearson, Five, Valentine (Ellam), Purkiss (Porritt), Curtis, Williams (Guest).
Goalkeeper Sebastian Malkowski has delivered an eve-of -season boost to Frickley by renewing his contract and also signing a one-year contract extension to take him up to the end of 17/18 season.
Chairman Gareth Dando is delighted to have kept the keeper. He said: “To secure Seb for a further two years is a massive boost for the club.
“He’s been outstanding for us and played a big part in our seventh place last year.
“We’ve looked after Seb and helped him and his family to settle and we’ve very happy he’s committed to the club.”
