Frickley go on revenge mission

After their 10-man team came unstuck against Nantwich Town last weekend, Frickley Athletic now face another top 10 side as they aim to climb the Evo-Stik Premier League table this Saturday.

The Blues travel to play Ashton United, who stood in ninth place after last weekend’s matches when they beat Mickleover Sports 3-2 while the Blues were going down 4-1.

They will be looking to do the double over Frickley, having won 3-1 at Westfield Lane on the opening day of the season.

The Blues were not at their best on that day and their inconsistency has continued into the past month, leaving them still third from bottom and manager Lee Morris is still searching for a settled team.

Frickley are also in action next Tuesday in the first round of the Integro League Cup when they host Tadcaster Albion (kick-off 7.45pm).

They have, meanwhile, signed two players with midfielder Laurie Wilson arriving from Matlock Town and 19-year-old winger or full-back Derek Daly joining on loan from Chesterfield. Both went straight into the team at Nantwich, but Daly was sent-off on his debut.
