Frickley Athletic have announced a number of new signings ahead of their return to action in pre-season games this month.
Most of last season’s squad have signed on again as the Blues look to kick on after their encouraging seventh place finish in the Evo-Stik Premier League in the 2015-16 campaign.
But Frickley boss Karl Rose has also added some new names, including experienced defender Rhys Meynell, who has joined from Shaw Lane AFC.
With previous spells with Stalybridge Celtic, Guiseley and Harrogate Town, he could turn out to be a key signing and he will team up at the back with Jameel Ible, who has agreed to stay at the club in the forthcoming season.
Former Harrogate Railway and Ossett Town striker Nathan Curtis has also signed for the Blues while Nathan Valentine has joined from Radcliffe Borough.
Frickley have further boosted their defence with the capture of left-back Josh Grant, who has left Farsley Celtic after several seasons with the West Yorkshire club. He has also previously played for Yorkshire Amateur and Wakefield FC.
One more new signing sees youngster Thomas Guest joining from Halifax Town.
Frickley, meanwhile, are delighted that their long serving player, Luke Hinsley, has signed a new contract for the 2016-17 season.
Hinsley, who has made 183 first team appearances and has scored 37 goals for the club, enjoyed a successful 2015-16 campaign, mostly in midfield after previously playing up front.
Frickley chairman Gareth Dando said: “Luke was a revelation last season in midfield and probably our most influential player.
“We’re delighted to have fended off interest from a number of clubs and delighted with Luke’s loyalty to the club.”
The Blues have also retained Sam Akeroyd, Bailey Gooda, Macauley Parkinson and Jake Ellam while under 19s player Jack Burton has also signed first team forms.
Already contracted are goalkeeper Sebastian Malkowski, Tyler Williams and Brad Dockerty.
Frickley return to the pitch for the first of seven pre-season matches on Wednesday, July 13, at home to Barnsley FC.
They then face Halifax Town at home on Saturday, July 16 before away games at Maltby Main (July 23), Ossett Town (July 26) and AFC Emley (July 28).
The Blues host Scarborough Athletic on Tuesday, August 2 and round off the warm-ups with a trip to Goole AFC on Saturday, August 6.
