Hemsworth MW were back in business after a long lay-off on Tuesday night as they beat Winterton Rangers 5-2 in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League.
After three postponements Wayne Benn’s men were at home in their first game of 2016 and already three up by half-time against opponents at the other end of the table.
Dom Blair set them on the way with the opening goal on 14 minutes and two in three minutes from Robbie Crapper and Nash Connolly had them well in control by the break.
Rhys Vazquez pulled one back for the visitors three minutes into the second half, but Bill Law struck on the hour to make it 4-1 then added another to seal Hemsworth’s win. Josh Batty’s 89th minute goal was a mere consolation for Winterton.
Hemsworth had lost top spot last Saturday to rivals AFC Mansfield, but they went back to the head of affairs, three points clear.
This Saturday, weather permitting, Hemsworth are at home to lowly Grimsby Borough (kick-off 3pm) and next Wednesday they face a testing trip to Bottesford (7.45pm).
