FIREWORKS displays lit up the skies across the Express area at the weekend.
A variety of different events took place to celebrate Bonfire Night in Hemsworth, Upton and South Kirkby.
At Upton Rugby Club on Friday there was a bonfire followed by an array of colourful fireworks. It was sponsored by Upton Parish Council.
Craig Tucker, committee member, said: “It went really well. We had a good turnout despite the damp weather and the fireworks were great. Everything went brilliantly.”
At Hemsworth Water Park on Saturday, hundreds of people turned up for a bonfire and firework display. There was also a Guy Fawkes competition for local children.
And youngsters at Kinsley Primary School got into the bonfire spirit when they were walked to school by Guy Fawkes. The children and their parents also wore fancy dress. Guy Fawkes then held an assembly about the history of bonfire night and the Gunpowder Plot.
Headteacher Paul Birdsall said: “It was fabulous. The children loved it and learned an amazing amount about bonfire night.”
A firework display is being held in South Elmsall this Saturday. It will be held on the Minsthorpe baths playing fields, off Ash Grove, at 6.30pm.
